Mod Information

The Myrtle Chronicles: Archolos is a free mod for Gothic II: Gold. It offers a brand new open world, a complex story and improved skill systems and game mechanics. The main goal of the project is to pay tribute to one of the best classic cRPGs and take its die-hard fans and new players on another adventure in the kingdom of Myrtana.

World

Head to Archolos, a huge island east of Myrtana, and explore a never-before-seen area of the kingdom filled with vineyards, farms and villages mentioned in the first game of the Gothic series. Visit the magnificent city of Archolos and lose yourself among the cobbled streets of the greatest city ever depicted in the Gothic trilogy. On the island of Archolos, you'll have the chance to delve into the deepest mines, visit the peaceful monastery of Adanos, sip beer while listening to gossip in one of the town's taverns, and discover other intriguing locations whose secrets only the bravest adventurers will uncover.

Plot

The kingdom of Myrtan is tossed in the winds of war and unrest that rage in its lands. Relive the events that shaped the original Gothic games and see for yourself how the rise of a mining colony has affected the lives of people far from the continent. Leave your mark on a brutal world where every decision you make has a clear impact on your surroundings and the lives of those you meet along the way. You take on the role of Marvin, a young man driven from his home by the war looming on the horizon. The reality of Archolos - a supposed haven of safety - turns out to be far from his expectations. Wealthy merchants seeking only gold, servants of King Rhobar II enforcing ever stricter laws and waves of desperate refugees seeking a better life. Marvin will have to find a way to survive in this world of treachery, opportunism and conflicting interests.

You are not the chosen one. You are not the villain. But you must survive.

Will you take everything by force? Or will you try to help others in need?

Music

More than thirty breathtaking tracks composed exclusively for this modification. The entire soundtrack was recorded with live instruments thanks to a collaboration with Andante's Inferno Symphony Orchestra. Composer Kamil Jędrzejewski and sound director Szymon Nawrocki are responsible for the soundtrack. In addition to new interpretations of classic songs from the entire Gothic trilogy, there are also brand new songs preserving the atmosphere of the original games.

Mod installation

Depending on the download source (STEAM / GOG / MODDB):

Steam version - You should have a Steam account, have the Steam platform installed on your computer, have purchased the digital version of Gothic 2 with the Night of the Raven add-on, then navigate from the download section to the Steam link and click "Install".

GOG version - You must have a GOG Galaxy account, have the GOG Galaxy platform installed on your computer, have purchased the digital version of Gothic 2 with the Night of the Raven expansion, then navigate from the GOG link in the download section and click "Buy now".

ModDB version - you must have Gothic 2 with the Night of the Raven platform installed on your computer, go to the ModDB link in the download section, then download The Chronicles Of Myrtana: Archolos v1.2.10 and The Chronicles Of Myrtana: Archolos v1.2.11 (Patch). First install version 1.2.10 and then install version 1.2.11.

The Czech community translation was completed and released in March 2023. To switch to the Czech localization, right-click on the game in your library on Steam or GOG, select "Properties" and go to the "Language" tab.

WARNING: Once you switch to Czech, you cannot upload saved games! You must start a new game.

- If you want to play with plugins such as time acceleration, fast picking, new inventory etc.. check the Union section and find the plugins you like, download them and put them in the Data folder.
