Cralon - A new game from the creators of the original Gothic

This time, something a little outside of Gothic. As you may know, Piranha Bytes as a studio has completely shut down, which was confirmed last year. The original creators from Piranha Bytes have since founded their new studio – Pithead Studio.

Björn Pankratz was the creative director of Piranha Bytes from 1999 to 2024. In 2024, he and his wife, Jennifer Pankratz, founded the independent game development studio Pithead Studio. His wife, Jennifer, is a German game developer, game designer, and story writer. She is well known for her work as a game designer and story writer at Piranha Bytes, where she played a key role in the development of the Risen and ELEX game series.

Their goal is to create "unique and immersive indie games," focusing on dark action-adventure games with deep storytelling, horror elements, and role-playing mechanics.

Last week, they announced their first game since the founding of their studio – Cralon.

Cralon is an authentic 3D dungeon crawler with RPG and adventure elements, inspired by legendary genre classics. While hunting a demon, you fall into the abyss of an old mine. Arm yourself, fight monsters, complete quests, uncover secrets, and find a way out.

Game Information

You are Cralon the Brave, a demon hunter pursuing a creature that has been abducting the inhabitants and belongings of a nearby village. However, during the chase, the beast catches you off guard, and you fall into the shaft of an old mine, trapped in darkness. A labyrinth of tunnels and secrets lies ahead, and you must find a way out to prevent impending doom. Yet, the deeper you venture into the underground, the stronger the feeling grows that something is terribly wrong. With the help of the creatures lurking in the shaft, you will face your fears and uncover the mine’s dark secret.
