Gothic 2: New Balance - F0rtuno NB Pack - Update 15.2.2025

Hello, this is the second version of my pack for New Balance. This version brings several improvements, including my **Gothic.ini (config)** and bundled plugins that I play with. I recently reinstalled NB and I'm setting up **Gothic.ini** again, so there will still be some changes, which I will let you know about. Of course, if you use my config, it's best to back up your own just in case.


If you used the previous version of my pack, **delete the file "F0rtuno NB Pack.vdf" from the DATA folder** (it could cause bugs). I accidentally included two identical files with different names, so to avoid having duplicates, just delete the old one. For any future updates, you only need to **download and overwrite** the previous version.


I will label the versions of this pack with the **release date**, just like New Balance.


I make changes **randomly, whenever I feel like it**, so I don't want to create any obligations for myself. I'm mainly doing this for fun and as preparation and setup for my own game in my next YouTube series.



Changelog:


Added **G3_bars_textures** to the pack. In the config I included, the bars are set accordingly.


Added Hedin_Union_XP_Bar to the pack.


Changed the texture of the Stone Dragon.


Changed the texture of Scavengers.


Changed the appearance of the monastery - a total of 57 textures (paths, walls, windows, roof, etc.).

Added the AB_ChristmasTreePatch file, which spawns a Christmas tree with items near Vatras in the game.

Added the Advanced Inventory plugin and GRawInput - a plugin improving mouse control and fixing the stuck cursor issue in Advanced Inventory.


  • Added the DialogueSkipper plugin, allowing for quick skipping of dialogues - all plugins will have documentation with explanations and settings.

  • Added the Hedin_Union_Light_Evening plugin, which extends daylight and shortens night to only 4 hours - mainly for players without DX11.

  • Added the ReduceGolemSounds plugin, which lowers the walking sounds of golems.

  • Added the nopreach plugin, which shuts Vatras up and stops him from preaching.

  • Added the Hedin_Union_NB_Small_Improvements plugin, displaying theft chances in %, enemy stats, and other small tweaks (documentation will be included).

  • Added the **F0rtun's Config** folder to the package. The folder itself does nothing if simply placed into the game. It only takes effect after transferring the config file (Gothic.ini) to the correct location. The config will include my personal New Balance settings, with all plugins, features, colors, etc., preconfigured.

  • Added the **Documentation** folder, containing descriptions of plugins, functional buttons, and possible links to videos.

  • Added the STOPQUIETWATER plugin to mute sea noise.

  • Added the latest GD3D11 graphics mod.

  • Added a new night sky appearance (requires the GD3D11 mod from the previous change to function properly).


  1. Realistic day sky

    Added new animations for Skřet weapons, Axes, and Two-Handed Hammers at 90+ skill.


    For axes with 90+ skill, the original animation was based on a halberd, and the main tactic was to land the first strike quickly, press strafe, and perform another first hit from the combo (winning through speed). I have adjusted the new animations to allow for 2 or even 3 strikes while keeping the attack speed no faster than the original. This is achieved using the attack sequence W + A + D. The swings are wide and, in my opinion, fit axes very well.


    Skřet weapons also used the halberd animation (and spear for the master level). However, Skřet weapons included large swords, and the hero would strike while holding the blade itself (even the side attack started with this grip). I have tried to match the animation speed to the halberd, but it does not change the fact that the first hit in the combo is slightly slower. On the other hand, immediately after the first strike, a second and third hit can follow. The full combo consists of 3 strikes, so in combat against Skřeti, humans, or undead, it is better to perform 2 or 3 hits and then transition into defense until the next attack window opens.
